How statpx In-App Notifications Keep You Informed Without Email Overload

Email alerts are useful, but they have a problem: they go to your inbox, which competes with everything else in your inbox. Important signals get buried in promotions, reply-all threads, and newsletters. By the time you see that your tracking snippet was removed three days ago, the gap in your analytics data is already there.

statpx now has a built-in notification center. Important events show up as a red badge on the bell icon in your sidebar the next time you log in — no inbox required.

The Notification Bell

A bell icon (with a red counter badge) appears in the statpx sidebar for both the account view and the per-site view. The number on the badge is the count of unread notifications. When there are no unread notifications, the badge disappears and the bell appears without a number.

Because the bell is part of the sidebar you see on every page of the app, you can't miss new notifications the way you might miss an email. Log in, see the badge, click the bell, read what happened.

Clicking the bell takes you to the Notifications page, which lists all your notifications grouped by recency: Today, This week, and Older. Opening this page marks all notifications as read and clears the badge counter.

What Triggers an In-App Notification

Not every event in statpx generates an in-app notification — only the three that are genuinely time-sensitive and actionable:

Snippet removed from your site

statpx's recheck cron scans your registered domain regularly. When it fails to detect the tracking code on your homepage, a notification is created immediately. One failed check is enough to trigger the alert — statpx doesn't wait for multiple failures. This means you'll know about a removed snippet within minutes of the next scheduled scan, not days later when you notice your traffic chart has flatlined.

Traffic alert fired

If you've configured a traffic alert — for example, "notify me when daily pageviews exceed 1,000" or "notify me if sessions drop below 50" — the notification center logs the event every time a threshold is crossed. You'll see which site triggered it, which metric crossed the threshold, and when it happened.

Team member accepted your invite

When you invite someone to access your site's analytics and they click the invitation link and create their account, you receive a notification confirming who accepted the invite and for which site. Useful when you've invited multiple people and want to know who's set up without having to check the team management page manually.

In-App vs Email: Which Channel Does What

In-app notifications don't replace email alerts — they complement them. The two channels serve different purposes:

Situation In-app notification Email alert
Snippet removed Yes — visible next login Yes — one-time email sent
Traffic alert fires Yes — logged in bell Yes — if email channel configured
Team member joined Yes No
Visible without opening email client Yes No
Works when inbox is overwhelmed Yes Can get buried

The practical recommendation is to keep email alerts enabled for snippet removal and critical traffic alerts — those are the events where you want to be notified even when you're not logged in. The in-app bell acts as a reliable secondary channel that surfaces the same information the next time you open statpx, with zero inbox noise.

Storage Limit and Pruning

statpx stores a maximum of 100 notifications per user account. When a new notification would exceed this limit, the oldest notification is automatically deleted to make room. In practice, most users will never approach this limit — notifications are generated by specific events, not on a schedule. But if you manage many sites with active traffic alerts, be aware that very old notifications may be pruned over time.

There's no way to manually delete individual notifications — opening the page marks them all read, which is the intended interaction. If you need a permanent log of traffic events, the alerts page maintains its own history independently of the notification center.

The Bottom Line

In-app notifications give statpx a reliable way to surface three important events — snippet removal, traffic alert triggers, and team invite acceptances — directly inside the app where you'll see them every time you log in. The bell badge in your sidebar tells you at a glance whether anything needs attention. Click it, read the grouped list, and they're cleared. No email client required, no inbox searching, no notifications missed because an alert landed in spam.
