Search Console: How to Connect Google Search Console to statpx

statpx tracks what happens once a visitor lands on your site — but it has no way to see the actual search query someone typed into Google before clicking your result, because Google doesn't pass that data along in the referrer. The Search Console page (search_console.php) closes that gap by connecting directly to Google's own data, via OAuth, so your organic keyword performance sits right next to the rest of your traffic data.

What Data Search Console Adds That statpx Doesn't Track

Once connected, the Search Console page pulls in four metrics per query and per page, straight from Google:

None of this is derivable from on-site tracking alone, since it describes what happened on the Google results page itself, before the visitor ever reached your site.

Connecting Your Google Search Console Account

The connection uses standard Google OAuth — statpx never sees your Google password, only a token scoped to Search Console data. To set it up:

  1. Make sure your site is already verified as a property in Google Search Console itself — statpx reads from an existing property, it doesn't create one for you.
  2. Open the Search Console page for the site you want to connect and click Connect Google Account.
  3. You'll be redirected to Google to sign in and grant statpx read access to your Search Console data, then redirected back automatically.
  4. Pick which verified property in your Google account matches this statpx site, and the first sync begins.
One-time setup requirement. This feature needs the Google Search Console API enabled on the Google Cloud project statpx's OAuth client is registered under. If the connect button leads to an error mentioning the API isn't enabled, that's the fix — a few clicks in Google Cloud Console, then retry the connection.

Reading Clicks, Impressions, CTR, and Average Position

The keyword table is sortable by any of the four metrics, which changes what story it tells. Sort by impressions to find queries where you're already showing up a lot but barely getting clicked — often a sign the title tag needs work, not the ranking. Sort by average position to find queries sitting just outside page one (positions 11–20), since those are usually the cheapest wins for on-page SEO improvements. Cross-reference high-impression, low-CTR queries against the actual page they're landing on using your landing page analytics to see whether the page itself matches search intent once someone does click through.

Combining Organic Keyword Data with On-Site Behavior

The real value of connecting Search Console isn't the keyword list on its own — it's being able to look at a query that sends a lot of impressions, then immediately check whether the sessions statpx already tracks from organic search on that same page bounce quickly or stick around. If a query brings a flood of impressions and clicks but statpx shows a high bounce rate on the landing page, that's a targeting mismatch worth fixing before you invest more in ranking for that term.
